Waiting on the shoulder of Beltway 8 feels longer than it is. Real-time tracking is less about a fancy app and more about a clear dispatch loop: your location, the truck's ETA, and a way to update both.
Start with a location that a driver can find
"I'm in Pasadena" is not enough. Give:
- The street and nearest cross street
- Direction of travel and which shoulder
- A landmark (plant gate, grocery, mile marker)
- A live pin from Apple Maps or Google Maps
Text the pin to the dispatcher if the phone connection is noisy.
What we can tell you while we roll
When you call Trinity Towing & Recovery, ask for the driver name, truck type, and current ETA. If traffic on SH 225 or I-10 changes, call back. We would rather update you than have you standing in a lane watching for the wrong truck.
If another motorist stops and offers a tow, decline unless it is the unit we dispatched.
Tools that actually help
- Share Location on iPhone or Google Maps location sharing
- A charged phone and a car charger
- Hazard lights and a reflective triangle if you have one
- A callback number that can receive texts
You do not need a special tracking portal. A pin plus a live phone is enough for a local truck.
Stay where the driver expects you
If you move to a gas station or side street, tell dispatch immediately. Drivers lose time looping a feeder when the car has already been pushed into a lot.
If it is unsafe to stay in the vehicle, wait behind a barrier and keep the phone on. Describe clothing or a nearby sign so the driver can spot you.
If the ETA slips
Southeast Houston traffic, rail crossings, and plant shifts can delay a truck. Call once for an update rather than placing a second service call. Two trucks on one job create billing confusion.
If you must cancel, say so before the truck arrives so the driver can take the next call.
After the hook-up
Ask for the destination address and an updated arrival time there. If a family member is meeting the car at a shop, send them the same address.
